Folder icon via custom mime type?

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if folders with specific extensions (yes, I know it sounds
ridiculous) can be given custom icons via mime types or similar?

I've been playing with a custom mime definition in
~/.local/share/mime/packages but it seems to only apply to files, not
folders.

Thoughts?
