e_passwords applicability

Hi,

It just occurred to me that I better ask if e_passwords_ask_password()
is applicable from a standalone application? 

I mean, will an e_passwords_get_password() query from my calendar
backend be able to retrieve a password that was queried/stored by
e_passwords_ask_password() invoked in a standalone helper application?
