I did the extra effort to include the compilation warnings that were at
first not patchable caused by my own changes in this patch too. I indeed
had to redo some of the fixes.

This is a second version of the patch. Larger than the first one because
this time more files in providers/ are also being patched.

It looks like the first patch had a few compilation errors. Oeps. Fixed
in this one of course.

Note: The configure script of e-d-s doesn't check for flex, yet flex is
being used by the build.
