I just recently discovered the build tool Meson[1]. It's from GNOME, and uses ninja[2] in place of make. It supports multiple tool chains, including windows. There was also a talk about it from GUADEC 2016[3] Having used cmake for gplugin, I'm considering porting gplugin to it and am curious if how others would feel about moving pidgin to it.
