tricks to NetworkManager and other services?

Wondering if there are other tricks to getting all the services
running, I have tried following this:

http://www.gnome.org/projects/garnome/docs.html

At the Starting Garnome section, And I don't see NetworkManager running.

Wonder if anyone else has a script that works better with
Centos/Fedora distro's.
