Problems installing GDOME

HI all:

	I am attempting to install gdome
on SUSE LINUX, version 8.0.  I keep getting
the following message (after typing ./configure)

checking for GLIB - version >= 1.2.10... no
*** The glib-config script installed by GLIB could not be found
*** If GLIB was installed in PREFIX, make sure PREFIX/bin is in
*** your path, or set the GLIB_CONFIG environment variable to the
*** full path to glib-config.
configure: error: Could not find GLIB (see config.log for details).

The "GLIB_CONFIG" variable is set to
"/usr/lib/bin" and the GLIB was installed.

Any ideas?
