Is this possibly related?

except /tmp/.X11-unix/ folder is owned by gdm.

changing /tmp/.X11-unix/ ownership to root reduced the warning to
[115183.145] _XSERVTransSocketUNIXCreateListener:
...SocketCreateListener() failed
[115183.145] _XSERVTransMakeAllCOTSServerListeners: server already
running
[115183.145]

But the pause on logging in is still there. Fortunately it still allows
logging in.
Any ideas?
