"application not responding"

Hello group,

is there any way to disable these messages "... not responding". 
It's really annoying, some applications just need time to compute. E.g.
importing large amounts of data in gnucash or openoffice.
and is this a bug: Usage of the mouse on the specific desktop is
limited if this message is shown (is that a bug? I had this issue since
openSUSE Leap 42.3). cannot click any buttons/menus, mid click paste,
scroll using wheels.. just switching windows..

currently using Gnome Version 3.26.2, openSUSE Leap 15.0, with gdm, 4
monitors with mesa.
