Can't build pango with Xft2 backend

  First off, I hope this is the right place to ask pango releated
  questions.

  I can't build pango-1.2.0 with the Xft2 backend.

  Here is some information on the used versions of the libraries
  involved:

     sb@wopr-mobile:/usr/src> pkg-config --version
     0.14.0
     sb@wopr-mobile:/usr/src> pkg-config --modversion glib-2.0
     2.2.0
     sb@wopr-mobile:/usr/src> pkg-config --modversion gtk+-2.0
     2.2.0
     sb@wopr-mobile:/usr/src> pkg-config --modversion xft
     2.0.0

  The used ./configure parameters are:

     --prefix=/usr/local --without-qt

  I have the current versions of both FreeType2 and Xft2 installed in
  /usr/local.

  A log containing the error message I get during 'make' is [1] here,
  the config.log file generated by the above mentioned call to
  configure is here [2].
