Does your dbus session.conf have

 <standard_session_servicedirs />

in it?  If so, then it should look in $XDG_DATA_DIRS/dbus-1/services.
XDG_DATA_DIRS should already be set up to include /opt/gnome/share

Basically, I'm confused why this isn't working for you out of the box.
