Why GConf is not used for generating menu entries in gnome-panel menus?
It could provide an easy way to create default menus (in /etc/gconf) and 
easy way to customizations for users (in .gconf)...

Is this because GConf is a blind clone of Windows Registry - which 
doesn't contain menu entries?
