Non standard schema location

Hello,

I have installed gnomemeeting in my home folder on the university 
computer system, and I don't have any write permission outside my home 
folder. The schema files are installed in

~/usr/stow/gnomemeeting/etc/gconf/

but I don't know how to make gconf use them. Is there some environment 
variable, or do I need to install an extra gconf in my home folder?
