Hello,

I did a mistake removing the write access on my whole home directory.
On the next log in, Gnome didn't function correctly, the whole
environment was messed up and I couldn't do anything.
I restored the rights, without results.
Some messages send by gconfd talked about lock file pbs.
According to this previous post from the list
:http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gconf-list/2004-August/msg00018.html,
I removed .gconf/ .gconfd/ .gnome/ .gnome2/ .metacity/ .nautilus/ ,
well not exactly, I actually moved it to /tmp .

Now, there is a great improval of my situation, because I can log as
user, but I can't launch evolution anymore .

My os is redhat 9, and Gnome version is 2.2.0 on a personal machine.

Didn't know how to get gconf-1 et gconf-2 versions, so I typed
locate gconf :
                /usr/lib/libgconf-2.so.4.1.0
                /usr/lib/libgconf-2.so.4
                /usr/lib/libgconf-1.so.1.0.4
                /usr/lib/libgconf-1.so.1

gconf-sanity-check-1 output is :

> Please contact your system administrator to resolve the following
> problem:
> Failed to get a file lock: Failed to lock
> '/home/zouzou/.gconfd/lock/ior': probably another process has the
> lock, >or your operating system has NFS file locking
> misconfigured, or a hard NFS client crash caused a stale lock
> (Resource >temporarily unavailable) - run gconf-sanity-check-1 for
> possible >diagnosis, see http://www.gnome.org/projects/gconf/ for more
> information

The error message from Evolution is :

And in the xterm from which I tryed to launch evolution, there was the
following output:

evolution-shell-WARNING **: Cannot access Bonobo/ConfigDatabase on
