Do some characters need to be escaped in GConf Editor?

Hi,

I'm trying to set up some multimedia keys in GConf Editor. Under
keybinding_commands for Metacity I have added command_14 and set the value to
aumix -w+5 but it's not working. This command works fine from a shell and I
have command_15 set to aumix -w-5 and it works fine to. Does the + need to be
escaped or something? I tried \+ as well as wrapping the whole command in
quotes but no luck.
