Very good news. After upgrading the kernel on FC6 to 2.6.22.1-32.fc6 and reboot I got a following message /home contains a file system with error, check forced /node 26411359 has a bad extended attribute block 262144 Run fsck manually without -a or -p options login as root #fsck /home contains a file system with errors check forced Pass 1: checking inodes, blocks and sizes, /node 26411359 has a bad extended attribute block 262144. clear <y> i-block is 48, should be 40. Fix <y> y After rebooting I got back icons on gnome panel and submenus in Applications, Places, and System menus. Michal
