Bruno Haible posted on the Automake mailing list a request for comments:

In short, his plan is to remove po/POTFILES.in and po/Makefile.in.in and
to replace their contents by a new po/Makefile.am file.
Is someone looking at this issue to see if intltool will continue to
work?
