building json-glib on ubuntu 10.10

Hi,

I am new to gnome-development and want to take part in OPW internship 2013. I am trying to build json-glib on ubuntu 10.10. It requires gobject -2.0 >= 2.34.0 - but I have gObject 2.26.1 - is there any way I can do it without doing the following - 
1. getting the sourcecode of such modules 
2. upgrading my os.
