Strange GUI problem while running apps with jhbuild

Hello everyone,

I have been trying to build apps using jhbuild but have been getting
strange GUI on all the apps I have built so far. Earlier I was using Linux
Mint Cinnamon 16 but someone pointed out that I would need stock Gnome to
be able to run these apps properly. I switch over to Ubuntu Gnome 13.10 and
haven't been able to resolve the error.

This is the output on the terminal when I run gnome-dictionary -

Would be glad if someone can help me with this. I have been trying to
figure it out for long without any success.
