bringing up new tab/window listing specific files

When implementing a Nautilus script it is sometimes desirable for the 
script to bring up a new tab or window that lists specific files within 
one directory.  Is there a way to do this?  Some way to supply a list of 
files, like Nautilus scripts are supplied with a list of the files selected?
