Sure, suggestion: Branches.  Trunk with stuff once folks agree on it,
branches for individual experimentation, branch diffs for exchanging
pieces/concepts and merging between branches and with mainline.

Other probably imminent suggestion: Directories, but this could get real
messy, real fast.  With branches you can have as many sandboxes as you
want without getting in the way.  Like miniature parallel universes (-:
