The Dia canvas has always been buggy and in general a bit awkward whenever I've tried to use Dia. Given the progress being made with Inkscape, it would be a very solid 'backend' for Dia (which is essentially just adding rules to shape manipulation and the conversions to-from .dia files). Am I way off of reality here?
