Oh, so this isn't even released yet??  UGGH.  Perhaps gnucash-2.2,
then.  I don't want co-dependencies when we release gnucash-2; I want
all the dependencies to be well-available.

This may be ok, provided there is a hook to perform a backend
search/query when it updates.

Yes it would.  Lots of existing/current distros don't have gtk-2.4.
Indeed, gtk-2.4 hasn't even been released yet.  GnuCash wont code to
non-released dependencies (remember what I said about the 1.6 fiasco).
So, 2.4 is not an option for us at this time.

Basically, we choose a base system (let's say FC-1 -- it was RH9 (and
even RH8 for a while) but the g2 port is taking long enough that we
might change it)...  We want as many deps as possible to be available
on the base platform.  This means GTK-2.2.4 is our target.

We want our deps to have been released for at LEAST 6 months before
we make a release that depends on them.  c.f. gnucash-1.6 fiasco.

I meant URL.  I dont want to have to download a package and read a
readme just to figure out wtf it does.

Well, we need a guppi replacement; that's important to us for a g2
release.  The rest of GO I can probably take or leave.

I'm extremely concerned about timelines, and the potential gtk-2.4
dependency.  As of today, a dependency on 2.4 is a showstopper for
us.
