Apart from the sheer number of new dependencies, I didn't have a
tremendous amount of trouble building the GNOME 2.0.1 SRPMS even under
Red Hat 7.2.

What took the most effort was putting together a custom qt3 package. 
And, yes, I modified a ton of .spec files, but partly because I went
with Pango 1.0 instead of 1.1 to avoid dealing with Xft2 and
fontconfig.  When the GNOME 2.0.2 SRPMS roll out, I'll probably save
myself the extra trouble and install Pango 1.1.
