Hello all, by trying to set: 'rpm -ba /usr/src/.../metacity.spec' i got the message '-ba : unknown option. So i looked for 'man rpm' by "RedHat 8.0" and so ( i hoped) to 'touch' a new file named 'popt' in '/etc'. But i get the same answer by 'rpm -ba /...'. Cause i'm sitting (try) to manage enable the 'options ide-cd dma=1' for what i had to add to '/etc/modules.conf' for playing 'dvd'; that is why i'm hopping for an update, which may be could change the situation. With that line (options ide-cd ...) in '/etc/modules.conf' and a new start may be next day, either the 'gnome-panel' is lost or the 'redhat-logo' stand still on the desktop and no icons are visible ...! So when i take out this line in '/etc/modules.conf' 'startx' is available again. For a little help i wopuld be glad! Thomas Rump
