Administrator Settings not working

Hello,
I can not access most of the Administrator setting. Here's the error I
get when trying to access the Display setting:

Can't load entry

Details: Error reading file
'applications-system:/redhat-config-xfree86.desktop': File not found

For other settings substitute xfree86 as appropriate. Oddly, I get these
errors before being asked for the root password. What do I need to do to
be able to access my settings?
