How to have a different Background in each Workspace?

Hi,

my name is Sergio. I am working in Linux RedHat-9.0 with GNOME and
Window Manager = "Metacity". I would like to have a different background
photo (*.jpg) in each workspace, but I don't know how can I do it. I
just starting with linux...

Anybody knows if is it possible?
