Multiple Icons Created for Removable media

I've seen the following problem on a couple of machines, both of which ar=
e =20
configured with dual displays, so I'm guessing that has something to do =20
with it.

When mounting removable media such as a cdrom, floppy or usbdrive I get =20
two icons created on the desktop.  Unmounting the media only removes one =
=20
of the icons.

I can get rid of the icons by deleting them from ~/.gnome-desktop folder,=
 =20
but I'd appreciate some help on stopping this from happening in the first=
 =20
place.
