lpd and cups

Hi,

 

It is clear that a heap of effort is being directed towards the integration
of cups into this gnome printing mechanism.  Unfortunately cups is not used
on the small number of little network I'm charged with maintaining as lpd
provides all the network operation and centralised job processing that is
required.

 

Is it possible for gnomeprint to parse lpd's printcap file and populate the
printer selection drop down list?  

 

Is it possible for custom settings to be saved for lpr printers?
