Some errors when trying to compile gnome 2

--=-HQdDi7bxSEfK+4GO1CWT Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-15 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Hello you lot I am a Debian 3.0 user and this is the first time I try to compile gnome-2, so I need some help After compiling (apparently) succesfully linc-0.5.0, when I do "make install", I got the following Errors: -- Installing ./html/index.sgml /usr/bin/install: can't execute 'stat' on './html/index.sgml': File or directory not found make[2]: *** [install-data-local] Error 1 make[2]: Leaving directory '/usr/local/share/temp/gnome2/linc-0.5.0/docs' make[1]: *** [install-am] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory '/usr/local/share/temp/gnome2/linc-0.5.0/docs' make: *** [install-recursive] Error 1 I got similar errors when compiling or installing ORbit, bonobo-activation, libbnonobo and so on. So I can't compile the gnome-2 tarballs. Please, give some help on the correct way for compiling gnome2 packages (better if you send me some links with documentation related to the gnome-2 compilation process).
