More artists?

Hi all!
The Art Request Thing [1] is going really great, although a bit slow. 
The current bunch of creative people do great stuff, then they get hired 
by some GNOME company and run out of time. :(
It would be cool if there were more (new and active) people.  How can we 
fix that?
All ideas (especially crazy ones) are welcome.
