Hi, I'm looking for any community of icon designers who might be prepared to work on a set of icons to be used by library software, so this isn't actually a gnome request - it's a request to be pointed somewhere more appropriate! Maybe somewhere like http://live.gnome.org/GnomeArt/ArtRequests/ but not specifically for Gnome. There is currently a lot of free software emerging in libraries, which have traditionally been dominated by large proprietary suppliers. There are quite a few developers, but it seems a shortage of people with design skills. There are also lots of cc/pd icon sets around but not oriented to library materials; you can make up a set by cobbling together some from a mix of sources, but it's not very satisfactory in terms of clarity or style. We've been trying to put together a list of icons required at http://vufind.org/wiki/icon_set where you can see some of the problems: lots of quite similar types of document which need differentiating visually. Any suggestions?
