Just FYI, I've decided to reject the profiles feature for the
foreseeable future.  See my explanation [1] in the relevant bug.

Thanks Allan and others for the mockup ideas and comments!  The
non-profiles-related feedback is being recorded on the wiki [2],
including which ones are fixed in trunk.
