Currently nautilus displays HTML files as ASCII by default, which isn't very nice: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81615 If you have nautilus-gtkhtml installed it will use that, but that is buggy so isn't recommended. I added a patch to change the default action from 'component' to 'application' so it will open a web browser to view HTML. The only disadvantage of this is that the mime info is shared with GNOME 1.4, so if GNOME 1.4 users upgrade it will change from using the mozilla view to opening a web browser (but they can change it back manually). What do people think about applying the patch? (I know Seth wanted to think about it a bit more). Displaying HTML as ASCII is pretty awful, so I think we should try to sort this out by GNOME 2.0.1.
