1. XIMIAN Y2PAY PROGRAM OFFERS WINDOWS USERS AN ALTERNATIVE

    The July 31st deadline for new and onerous Microsoft licensing is

2. NEW UPDATES FOR XIMIAN EVOLUTION AND CONNECTOR AVAILABLE

    Ximian has recently released version 1.0.8 of Ximian Evolution,
    including are many useful refinements and enhancements to
    performance, configuration, and collaboration functions. You can
    update to the new version using the Red Carpet client that is part
    of every Ximian Desktop installation. To install for the first

    Along with that, Ximian recommends the latest version of Ximian
    Connector for Microsoft Exchange 2000.  Ximian Connector, an
    add-in for Ximian Evolution, allows you real access to a Microsoft

3. MIGUEL DE ICAZA TO PRESENT AT O'REILLY OPEN SOURCE CONFERENCE

    Ximian CTO and co-founder Miguel de Icaza will discuss the latest
    developments in Mono project at the O'Reilly OSCON this July 22-26
    in San Diego. He will be presenting two sessions on the Ximian-led
    project to implement the Microsoft .NET development framework on
    Linux and UNIX platforms:

4. XIMIAN IN THE NEWS

    The press has caught on to the importance of the UNIX and Linux
    desktop, and has featured Ximian in a number of recent articles:
    
    Wall St. Journal, June 24 2002 - "New Microsoft Pricing Looms;
    Customers Consider Switching"  -  The chief information officer of
    one large European financial concern who declined to be named for
    fear of raising Microsoft's ire said he was "70% sure" his firm
    would start moving its more than 30,000 computer desktops to
    Linux-based software made by a company called Ximian Inc. instead of
    re-signing with Microsoft.  
    
    eWeek, June 25 2002 - "Ximian Targets Windows Users" - Tig Kerkman,
    system administrator for the city of Kenosha, Wis., said Ximian is
    attractive to enterprises with limited staffs and budgets. "Any
    company looking for an alternative desktop system that will allow
    for a full range of functionality in a cost-effective manner should
    definitely consider Ximian," said Kerkman.  
    
    Associated Press, June 24 2002 -  "Pioneering Effort Could Ban
    Microsoft on Government Computers" -  "The basic issue, really, is
    that governments are paying a high price for commodities," said
    Miguel de Icaza, chief technological officer at Ximian, a software
    company in Boston. "A country shouldn't be paying between $200 and
    $700 for each workstation to run word processors, spreadsheets, Web
    and calendars, and e-mail." 
    
    CNet, June 24 2002 - "Microsoft move triggers Linux promotion" - 
    Ximian, a small Boston company pushing use of the Linux operating
    system on ordinary desktop computers, is offering discounts to try
    to woo Microsoft customers dissatisfied with a more expensive
    licensing plan from the software titan. As of May, about two-thirds
    of Microsoft's customers haven't signed up for a program to offer a
    subscription-like product update service. The sign-up deadline is
    July 31.
