Error installing

When I try to install Gnome onto Redhat 7.x:

I get the graphical installation program, make my selections, and download everything completely (128 files). It then tells me it needs to uninstall a package which I believe was something like xxx-pim.... something. But after it verifies all the files it downloaded, if reports that it was unable to uninstall the package and the error reported is that the package didn't exist or didn't appear to be installed.

How do I get it to ignore this? If the package isn't installed, it doesn't need removed... How can I be sure the package is removed? Can I do this using the GnomeRPM program and uninstalling the package myself assuming it's there? And, if it's not there, what then? Can I edit a setup file or something to tell it to ignore that package?
