Hi, I'm following the gnome install directions from www.gnome.org, which use links (or lynx) and ximian. Everything seems to be going fine, and then suddenly the installer quits. It downloads all the packages, and about halfway through verifying them it just stops and leaves links. Below is what appears in the xterm I started links from. I can send you the logfile, but it doesn't seem helpful. It has the seem thing about 30 times, and then something which seems like good news: ( rc_verify_md5: good md5 rc_verify_size: good size check ) Either way, the terminal after it quits: go-gnome: 4.0.6 (Thu May 30 12:36:01 EDT 2002) I am now fetching the Ximian Desktop graphical installer. This can take a few minutes, so please be patient. http://red-carpet.ximian.com/installers/installer-rpm-glibc2.2-i386.gz (2241K) /var/cache/redcarpet/ins [########################] 2241K | 177.46K/s 2295158 bytes transferred in 12.63 sec (177.45k/sec) Installer extracted into /var/cache/redcarpet/installer-rpm-glibc2.2-i386 Log of install will be in /var/cache/redcarpet/install.log.20020611010350 sh: line 1581: 1208 Segmentation fault (core dumped) GNOME_DISABLE_CRASH_DIALOG=1 $INSTALLER -m "$@" >$LOGFILE 2>&1 The installer appears to have encountered an error. Please check /var/cache/redcarpet/install.log.20020611010350 for details. Cleaning up temporary files... done. _______________________________________________ beta maillist - [email protected] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
