Quite an awkward situation. I am running Mandrake Linux 8.1 on a dual-processor (Intel Pentium III) MB. Yesterday I downloaded Evolution by itself, forced RPM to ignore some dependencies, and roached my Evolution. I then bought the Professional Desktop. I have been trying to install from the network while awaiting my disks, as Evolution now doesn't work at all. Installation fails because "There are no suitable providers of (any) gtk-engines-thinice- for Ximian-doorman-1.0.9-1 Ximian 1 [Ximian GNOME]. There is already a thinice library "user/lib/gtk/engines/libthinice.la" and ".../libthinice.so". There is a new version of libthinice for GTK+ on sourceforge. This is a source library, and it needs to know GTK+'s location for configuration. I found "gtk2-2.0.5-1gtk.i386.rpm" on gtk.org. RPM hangs installing this library. I found "gtk+2-1.3.13-2mdk.i586.rpm" on mandrake.com. RPM hangs installing this library. I assume my RPM is out of date ?? How do solve this problem? Why did I have this problem?
