Hello Are you behind a Firewall and must use a proxy? In my case i create a rcd.conf under /etc/ximian with the following content [Network] proxy=http://yourproxy:port When you now start the red-carpet daemon it takes some time to download the channel infos. Take a look at your syslog. When the download is complete, ther are two lines in the syslog, Starting server and Starting heartbeat Now you can start red-carpet without errors.
