Connection problem with red-carpet

Hi,

first, sorry for my  English, I'm french....  :,b)
 I have a problem when I try to launch red-carpet, I get the following message in a dialog box :
" Unable to connect to the daemon
Non file or directory"

I just have a warning in the terminal where I launched the application:
root@CityHall /usr/lib  $ red-carpet
Red Carpet Client 2.0.0
Copyright (C) 2002-2003 Ximian Inc.


** (red-carpet:27145): WARNING **: Invalid UTF8 string passed to pango_layout_set_text()


Does anuybody have an idea ??
I don't know what it can be.
