Red carpet GUI dies when switching tabs

I'm looking for suggestions for debugging this glitch I'm seeing in my
red-carpet installation.  Or, better yet, a fix or workaround.

I'm running a Red Hat 9 desktop with the following rpms:

red-carpet-2.0.1-0.ximian.6.1.1
rcd-1.4.4-0.ximian.6.1
rug-1.4.4-0.ximian.6.1

Rug has been working fine, and I've also been successfully using Red
Hat's up2date without problems.  But whenever I run the red-carpet GUI
and want to use one of the tabbed screens, like "Installed Software" or
"Available Software" or "Search" the GUI immediately dies without any
further message.

Am I alone in seeing this behavior?  Where can I start looking for clues
as to where the problem might be?  Any pointers would be helpful.
