I have sles 8.0 installed and I have installed
rug-2.0.2-0.ximian.0.1.i386.rpm and rcd-2.0.2-0.ximian.0.11.i386.rpm.  I
am a beginner at this, so please bear with me. I have started the rcd
service and it is listening on port 505 as it should. I am connected to
a corporate intranet that goes through a proxy. I have tried just
running "rug sub http://red-carpet.ximian.com" and it gives a "invalid
channel" argument. I have tried exporting the variable: "export
http_proxy=3Dhttp://username:[email protected]" and still doesn't
work. I have tried to do a "rug sa http://red-carpet.ximian.com" and
get nothing. I don't get a cursor back until I hit "ctrl C". Here is
what I have in /var/log/messages:

The last message indicates it is a reverse DNS lookup problem. ( I
changed IP addr)

Here is what happens when I restart /etc/init.d/rcd:

I have searched the lists, no real fixes there. I am need to be able to
rule out the proxy to make sure that's not the problem. Is there a way
to make sure rcd knows how to get out the proxy?????

Anyway, any help is appreciated.

Thanks
Scott
