Greetings,
I'm new to the list, I've been using red-carpet for quite some time
with great happiness. Recently, I've been having trouble with it
though. A few weeks back I tried to fire up red-carpet and after
putting in root's password, the splash screen where it downloads
channels came up, followed almost immediately by the red-carpet window
stating it encountered an error:

Red Carpet has encountered an error while trying to process your
request:

Red Carpet was unable to complete a file transfer.

Details:
URL: http://red-carpet.ximian.com/channels.xml.gz
Error: Can't connect - DNS failure or connection refused

This morning I cleaned red-carpet entirely from my system... got rid of:
/var/cache/red-carpet
/root/.gnome/access/red-carpet
/root/.gnome/red-carpet
/root/.gnome_private/red-carpet
and did a rpm --erase red-carpet-1.4.3-1.ximian.4

I reinstalled red-carpet after downloading the RPM off ximian.com
(happened to be the same version), and installed it from scratch. This
time when I started it, after the root password prompt I filled out my
proxy info and red-carpet displayed the same error.

Has anyone seen this before? Is there something I can do to resolve
this issue? I does not seem to be a network related issue as I can open
the URL in the error in my browser just fine.

Thanks!
