xscreensaver popping up "randomly"

Last one (for tonight - I'm getting frustrated - time to walk away for a
while).  Xscreensaver seems to have lost track of time - decides to pop
up a screen saver *while I'm typing.*  (very annoying).

Anyone else seeing similar behaviors?
