Re: Fresh Install RH73 / Ximian Gnome Desktop / Gnome 2 Snapshots

For what it's worth, I've had similar issues.

I wonder, though, if it is more an indication of the "development
snapshot" status of what we're downloading rather than the quality of
Ximian's Gnome 2 update to their desktop.  Far as I know, there is *no*
Gnome 2 desktop yet, right?

My assumptions: 

1. Gnome 2 Ximian is being readied based on the Gnome 
   2.0 branch.

2. We're downloading newer stuff than that eventual
   release, i.e., the 2.1 branch.

3. Even though a lot of us have been downloading since
   before the Gnome 2 announcement, we've never really
   downloaded the official release.

Given all that, if Gnome 2 isn't ready for the masses, it's probably not
for the rough edges you've mentioned. (Or have you installed some other
Gnome 2 distribution, and if so, where do you get it?)
