Re: Today's snaps

I noticed a major improvement in the snaps build about five days ago.
But I have a problem that persists. When I run redcarpet and install
the snapshot builds, I find that the user account I'm in is messed up--
when I restart X-Windows, the panels fail to load, and I'm left with a
useless desktop. The keyboard and mouse won't respond, and I have to
C+A+Del to get out of it. The problem seems to be in left-over Orbit
files in /tmp. If I delete the contents of this folder, and the
contents of any leftover /tmp/.sawfish or /tmp/.metacity folders, then
the desktop will usually load fine. Occasionally, however, I stil have
to delete all gnome-related folders in the /home/$USER directory in
order to get a usable desktop.

This seems like a minor issue to fix-- either redcarpet could clear the
affected /tmp directories, or Gnome2 could restart the session and do
the same things. Kind of a PITA, especially after I've configured the
desktop to suit my preferences. Of course, to run redcarpet, I've had
to enter the root password, but the problem only affects the particular
user account I was using when I ran redcarpet. If I run rc as root, I
have the same problem--I have to delete /tmp/Orbit directories.
