I installed gnome2 from rc over the weekend on top of a working 1.4 Ximian Redhat 7.2 installation. I could not get gnome2 to work. X comes up and shows a login. When I log in as any user a sound mixer app would come on the screen and hang. This was the result of /usr/bin/gnome-volume-control -i command in /etc/X11/gdm/gnomerc. If I exited the mixer, I would get a gnome logo in the middle of the screen and hang until X was killed. I then installed garnome in the home directory and if I boot to that gnome2 comes up and works flawlessly. Today I installed the new snapshot from rc while running under garnome. Now whenever I sign into any account other then the garnome one I get the mixer once again but when I exit the mixer I get a menu, a panel and a desktop with out icons and then the screen files with error message boxes either about icons not displayable or nautilus not able to run. The machine also slows to a crawl and eventually locks up. I am still running perfectly under garnome. Any ideas. -- Harris Landgarten <[email protected] _______________________________________________ gnome-2-snapshots maillist - [email protected] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/gnome-2-snapshots
