problems with gnome2-snaps on very fresh 7.3 install

I started with an RH7.3 install of just the absolute minimum (no optional packages installed), and then wgetted my way to just enough X to run red-carpet. (And I installed ssh-server.) Then I did the RC updates to my 7.3 install (ssh and glibc), and subbed to the gnome2-snaps channel. I installed most stuff there, but not sawfish2 (I just wanted metacity). All the panel and desktop and gdm2 stuff came in fine. I got the nice gdm2 chooser, but logging in as a fresh user immediately ended my session and gave me the .xsession-errors dialog. Looks like it wants some session files from /etc/X11/xdm, but I don't have xdm installed. If I manually select the GNOME or Failsafe GNOME sessions, I get a gnome-settings-daemon crash and nothing else (still the hatched X background). I don't have gdb on that machine, and I'm too tired to wait for red-carpet to start up for the install, so I'll file a stack-having bug tomorrow. Nat said you'd all be interested in this. Happy weekend! Mike _______________________________________________ gnome-2-snapshots maillist - [email protected] http://lists.ximian.com/mailman/listinfo/gnome-2-snapshots
