evolution slowness

okay it's not my machine cause i'm only having trouble with evolution.
but why is evolution coming to such a slow and painful halt? every time
i delete and email or check my email the 'storing folder' process is
amazingly time consuming. 

i'm using 1.4.5 on Fedora Core 1. i'd love to update but obviously this
process is too difficult when using anything but SuSE.
