This can have different causes -- and frankly, I'm not sure I got, when
this happens exactly. What's the protocol? Can you explain more
detailed, when this happens?


FWIW, storing large mbox files (Local, POP, IMAP with mbox files
backend) sure can be a pain. Imagine a slow disk and a large folder (at
least 20 MByte). Now, if you delete and *expunge* any mail from that
folder, the whole folder needs to be re-written...

Remember, that there is a setting to automatically expunge on closing
Evolution. This can lead to heavy disk activity and take some time till
Evo can close.

Hmm, IMHO nope. What's the version you want to upgrade to?

There haven't been much changes in the 1.4.x tree since 1.4.5. Remember,
1.5.x still is in beta stage. If your distro doesn't ship with recent
Evo versions or doesn't update, please complain to them.

However, AFAIK all "bleeding edge" distros do ship Evolution 1.5.x and
update it to the latest beta version frequently.

btw: Fedora Core 1 is quite outdated. ;-)
