This machine has a fixed IP, right? You don't happen to use DHCP?

Try setting the hostname to "andrew" instead of the currently used FQDN.
This could be your issue, since the FQDN isn't resolved by 'host',
whereas "andrew" is.

It needs to resolve your machine, as Corba is network based... ;)
